Worth knowing before the first site visit
- Rough dimensions — a terrace in square feet, a wall in linear feet and height.
- The material you have in mind, if you have one: bluestone, brick, fieldstone, gravel, a veneer.
- New work or repair. Repointing and rebuilding old work is a different craft from setting new stone, and few masons are equally good at both.
- Access. Whether a small machine can reach the work, or whether everything goes through a garden gate by wheelbarrow, moves the price more than most people expect.
